Offset Printing: Equipment & Materials
Offset printing is the most common printing method in modern printing industry. More than half of all printed products are made using this particular method. Offset printing is distinguished by high performance and printing quality; it copes with the task of reproducing fine details and halftoning greatly.
Offset printing advantages are as follows:
- High printing quality with good reproduction of image color and contrast;
- Capability of printing on various grades of paper, cardboard, self-adhesive materials and vinyl;
- High printing speed;
- Cost effectiveness at production of medium and large runs;
- The operator can adjust a color scheme in the course of a run printing without changing the layout and that is very convenient as all prepress works are always time-consuming.
Paper with offset and clay coating as well as paper with impervious surfaces are used as a material for offset printing.
